aww, this is neat...during the Seattle earthquake, a sand pendulum made a design in the shape of a rose...alas a 3-yr-old accidentally kicked it and erased it, according to an abcnews story about the whole thing.

xian fundies actually believed this Onion article on Harry Potter and satanic recruitment, and passed it around as a chain e-mail, with all sorts of horrified comments and scripture quotes. Alex sent it to Kevin, with a link to an urban legends site which describes the tale. Ignorance prevails in this illiterate backwater country of ours.

Vote Fraud in Tennessee
"Black voters were told to get behind the white voters. They were told to remove NAACP stickers from their cars, or leave the polling place without voting. 'You know what it is to stand at the back of the bus,' said one election volunteer."

i got the *best* package at work today from san francisco! it was this perfectly glittery flying thing that made me get up and disco dance on my desk. and the timing was excellent - i opened it just after my boss told me i wasn't being productive enough. now i am not only a graphic designer, but also a glitter-covered disco entertainer. this new accessory will guarantee my transfer back to the west coast, where such things are properly appreciated... thank you laura and kevin! xXoOXxoX

Much as I would love to make yoni-references as often as possible, putative is simply a word my dad often used to describe his fatherhood...I didn't get the joke until high school...
but if you're in need of some yoni-isms, go here.

I will look into possible Nutscrape/Extorter incompatibilities.
And no, I don't know why no females will join me in this endeavor thus far. It's either some sort of stereotyped gender issue (women as computer-phobes?) or the fact that the women must be busy doing important things and can't be bothered with this sort of time-waster. :)
A letter to the editor in today's Chron had the sentiment "when will you liberals realize that there wouldn't be a need to drill for oil in Alaska until you all stop driving?" Heh.

Hay, lookie, there's a link above! Nice. (pronounced "neese")
Um, OK, if "publish" means post, what does "post" mean?
In other words, there are three buttons below: "post and publish", "post", and "cancel". I think I know what "cancel" does, but I wanna know the difference between the first two. Thus all the questions. and I don't want to ask blogger or read a manual.
The cootie link is cool.

fundies review Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon...
"There was a number of episodes of intercourse but each without nudity except for one which presented a flash view of a very small portion of the upper anatomy of a girl. However "polite" this imagery might have been, it was still sexual immorality. And along with the intercourse was inappropriate touching. Nude bathing was noted though the nudity is visually implied (hidden by convenience items) [Rev. 21:8]. Many fight sequences, though of such flowing and athletic grandeur and indeed poetry, were possibly suggestive of fighting to solve differences [Prov. 3:31]. The blade fights were especially of influential concern. Much of the choreography presented the characters flying, running up and down walls, leaping to the rafters, rooftop to rooftop, on the mist in a river canyon and the like. Children cannot fly as they would soon find out if in a moment of temporary disconnect with reality they decided to see if they could as the movie characters could -- it happened with the early Superman TV series."
(the bible only permits clothed bathing?)

OK, the POST link on the left seems to be working...I tried it from home, before doing anything else, and it popped up a window asking me to log in...so, teammates, as Le Lapin already apparently attempted, we can now post (i.e., "publish") directly to and from the goddesscafe page without going to blogger.com. Are you happy now? :) Remember to remove the html that springs up first, otherwise there's a stray self-referential link sitting there when you post...
and, uh, since this is supposed to be more interesting content, have a link, fool...
